Heather R. Campbell Memorial Scholarship
The Heather R. Campbell Memorial Scholarship was established in June 2010 in honor of Heather R. Campbell, who was tragically killed before she could complete her dream of becoming a nurse. Heather planned to finish her degree at the DMACC Carroll Campus, become an RN, and work with patients with special needs. Heather had a very kind and caring heart and felt that it was her true purpose in life to help anyone in need. One evening, Heather and a new friend were studying for their first clinical examination at the friend’s home. Heather tragically lost her life due to a domestic violence incident where, as an innocent bystander, she refused to leave her friend in danger despite serious risk to her own safety. The Campbell family established a nursing scholarship in Heather’s name to tell her story and assist other young students in pursuing their goal of becoming a nurse, ultimately keeping her dreams alive through others.
