Alfred & Arline Jensen Endowment

Alfred Casper Jensen was born in Canada on September 27, 1914, the son of Alfred and Francis (Buckway) Jensen. He grew up in Minot, North Dakota, where he graduated from high school. Just before entering into military service, Alfred married Arline Ethel Petersen in St. Peter, Minnesota. He served with the United States Army Air Corps during World War II, training pilots. He began his career with Hallett Construction Company as a college student. From timekeeper to janitor, office manager to plant manager, foreman to vice president, chief executive officer to president, he advanced step by step through the ranks of the Hallett organization. For many years, Al served as a trustee for Hallett Charitable Trusts. He later became CEO of Quinn Machine & Foundry in Boone and served on the Board of Directors for Check-All Valve Manufacturing in Des Moines. As a young boy, Al was an Eagle Scout and was responsible for the Page School troop. He served on the board of Augustana Lutheran Church and the Board of the Boone DMACC Foundation. Al was a long time member of the former Elks Club in Boone and the Boone Masons-Mt. Olive Lodge #79 AF & AM. Al served on the Boone Airport Commission and the Des Moines Area Boy Scout Council. He and Arline loved to winter in Thousand Palms, California. Al enjoyed flying airplanes, golfing, and reading books of mystery and intrigue. He scored his first Hole-In-One at the age of 94 at the Boone golf course. Alfred passed away on May 5, 2016, at the Westhaven Community at the age of 101, and the endowment was created in his memory to honor both him and Arlene.
