Curtis Van Veldhuizen Scholarship

Curtis Van Veldhuizen Scholarship

The Curtis Van Veldhuizen Scholarship was established through a generous estate gift from Curtis Van Veldhuizen, a longtime supporter and dedicated member of the DMACC Foundation Board of Directors.

Curtis believed deeply in the power of education and was committed to helping students overcome financial barriers in pursuit of their goals. His legacy lives on through this scholarship, which provides ongoing support for DMACC students striving toward a brighter future.

As the longest-serving Board Member in the DMACC Foundation’s history, Curtis dedicated more than 35 years (December 1989 – February 2025) to advancing the Foundation’s mission. During his tenure, he held numerous leadership positions—including Vice President, President, and Past President—and was known for his integrity, steady guidance, and unwavering focus on student success.

One of Curtis’s most enduring contributions was the creation and enthusiastic support of the annual DMACC CEO Golf Invitational. Not only was he instrumental in launching what would become the Foundation’s largest scholarship fundraising event, he also championed it year after year, earning the affectionate title of “Golf Committee Chairman for Life.” The event continues to raise vital funds for student scholarships while elevating the Foundation’s visibility in the community.

Curtis’s impact extended far beyond his leadership roles. He was a generous and consistent donor, contributing significant gifts throughout his lifetime and establishing the Curtis Van Veldhuizen Scholarship through his estate. His philanthropic spirit has helped thousands of students pursue their educational dreams—and thanks to his thoughtful planning, that support will continue for generations to come.

Through his enduring generosity and steadfast commitment, Curtis leaves behind a legacy that will forever be felt in the lives of DMACC students and the broader college community.
