Lois Coon and Roberta Smith Scholarship

Sisters Lois Helene (Smith) Coon and Roberta Pendry Smith were raised on a farm in northeast Warren County, Iowa near Hartford. Lois taught for several years, left teaching to raise her family and then returned to teaching for several years as a substitute. Roberta taught her entire career mostly in the Des Moines Public Schools. She retired from Monroe Elementary School. The scholarship was established to honor them and to assist DMACC students interested in elementary education.
