Raymond A. Voet Memorial Scholarship

This scholarship was established in memory of Raymond A. Voet, who died at age 83 on Wednesday, November 19, 2014 in Des Moines. He was born to Alphonse and Velma Voet near Marysville, Kansas. After living in Minneapolis, MN, for 58 years, he moved in August of 2014 to a care home in Des Moines. Ray retired from the U.S. Bureau of Mines, conducting scientific research and disseminating information on the extraction, processing, use and conservation of iron ore. A lifetime member of Mensa, he was also active in Toastmasters and the Minnesota Council for Gifted and Talented. Continuing his passion for science, Ray donated his body to Des Moines University for the training of medical professionals.
